PTC Select Network Administration Services

Why do I need Network Administration Services?

Hackers, viruses, software bugs, configuration issues, staff changes, physical reorganizations…. We could go on and on. The fact is, issues like these, and many more, plague almost all computer networks today. There always exists some level of need to keep up to date on the latest computer software and hardware features, while maintaining license compliance and assett management. The answer for many medium-to-large businesses: Hire a network administrator.

This is certainly a necessity for many of those companies; however, for many small-to-medium sized businesses, a full-time network administrator is overkill. In most cases, they don't normally need someone 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year. Nor can they afford it!

The answer: PTC Select Network Administration Services! Our highly qualified network support engineers can build, upgrade, and maintain a healthy, stable, and secure computer network via weekly scheduled visits: 2 hours, half a day, a day, whatever you need. Benefits of this program include lower costs than a full-time network administrator, reduced overhead, an experienced sales team to back them up when new products need to be ordered or quoted, and a vast array of skill sets and experience made available to you.

Still interested? We thought so. Our support engineers will analyze your network and document and discuss with you several aspects of the services we can provide for you:

Security

Be it something simple like an anti-virus solution, spyware removal, or more complicated like high-end firewall and authentication services such as Cisco PIX, RADIUS servers, wireless security, etc., PTC Select can implement, maintain, and monitor your security systems on your network. We can also train your users and management alike on best techniques for avoiding security disasters that can constitute a significant financial setback for your company.

Backup and Disaster Recovery

A properly executed backup strategy includes more than scheduling a job and changing tapes periodically. We will monitor your log files, perform test restores of your data, secure weekly tapes offsite, and implement additional back-up strategies to ensure that you have back-ups of your essential (and not-so-essential) data, when you need it.

Stability

The other side of a good back-up strategy: making sure you don't need the back-ups! We can help work out the software and hardware glitches that cause your servers to go down or slow down. Many computer problems are caused by errors in software programs. Most of the issues are not unique to one computer network. It is a common practice to download and apply patches and service packs to servers, workstations and network devices to repair these errors. This can be a tedious task and is often overlooked on unmanaged networks. More to the point: it is very likely not going to fix your problem! This program will monitor and maintain the versions of all involved operating systems, application software, drivers, BIOS, and firmware.

License Compliance

Is all your software legal? Do you find it just too complex to keep up with licensing? We can help work it all out for you. With the increase in aggressive pursuit of software license violators by the Business Software Alliance, it is very important to have an assembled report from an active license audit. We will create and maintain a report of the software you own vs. the software you have loaded. We will visit your workstations on a rotating basis to verify the accuracy of this report.

Additional Projects and Training

Implementing that new server, upgrading the old Netware server to Windows Server 2003… We all have a laundry list of tasks that keep getting put on the back burner. At the end of each weekly visit, as time permits, the Support Engineer will be available to work on your list of tasks. This work could include loading a new application, or upgrading a piece of hardware. You might also use this time to train users how to better utilize the network and the applications on their PC's. Note: Higher-priority tasks can be included here as well, but you may be better off utilizing PTC's Time Pack or regular hourly rate services to fill these needs.

Projects and training that will not fit into the time remaining at the end of each weekly visit will be billed at PTC Select’s normal rate of $125 per hour, or could be deducted from our 25 hour discounted time packs.

Bottom Line: Superior administration of your network for a discounted price off of our normal hourly rate! Contact a PTC Select representative today for more information or to sign up for our services.
